A Day with a Sleigh

John Dusek III, owner of Cornerstone Horse Complex, recently surprised his wife Barb with a Valentine’s Day sleigh ride.  He planned this with the help of Sue Lockling who offered the use of her horses Trixie and Hogan. Thankfully it was a beautiful and sunny day with plenty of fresh snow.   John’s wife Barb, dressed warmly and she was happily surprised to discover a horse and sleigh waiting for her when she arrived at Cornerstone.  John even brought their dog Axel, who was also dressed for the occasion. Meet our Trainer Angela Porter

Angela Porter of Steel Crest Stables offers horse training and riding lessons to both students and horses. She has been training horses for 20 years and focuses on Saddlebreds and also welcomes Morgans and Arabs. While English Pleasure is her specialty she offers expertise in hunt seat and western pleasure. She is accepting new clients and offers lesson horses if needed. Porter was an assistant trainer at the highly regarded Devore Stables in KY and is now back to her home state of Minnesota at Cornerstone Horse Complex. Who am I anyway?

  I started writing these blogs last month and never formerly introduced myself.  My name is Joyce and I purchased my first horse at age 28 and as you know he was an off the track Thoroughbred.   Before purchasing Rudy I took lessons and leased several horses which enabled me to try different breeds and riding disciplines.  I leased an Arab, Saddlebred, Paint (named Shadow because he was afraid of his own shadow) and a Thoroughbred.  I also had the opportunity to try saddle seat, hunt seat and western riding lessons before deciding on hunt seat and later jumping.  After five years...
